❄️ Pray for Snow: A Winter Kickoff Party at Gearhouse

About this event

Pray for Snow is Gearhouse's winter kickoff party. Gearhouse is an outdoor club and café on Capitol Hill, a home base for people who want to get outside, learn something new and find their crew. For one night, we're opening the doors to everyone. Come share a meal, meet our members, hear what's coming this winter, and find out how to get into snowshoeing, cross-country or downhill skiing, even if you've never tried.

Come for the snow dance, stay for the people.

The plan

• Potluck dinner: Gearhouse is making chili! Bring a side, salad or dessert to share if you can. It's not required.

• Winter preview: a look at the trips, ski days and café nights coming up this season.

• Meet the people behind each sport: chat with the folks who lead snowshoeing, cross-country and downhill at Gearhouse, and find others at your level.

• Thinking about joining? We'll be around all night to answer questions about membership and our beginner programs. *You have to be a member to participate in winter programming.

• Music, food, drinks and good company for the rest of the night.

What to bring

• A dish to share (optional), with a serving utensil and a label listing common allergens (nuts, dairy, gluten, shellfish). Please sign up here so we get a good mix of dishes.

• A friend who's been wanting to get outside more this winter.

• Optional: your best snow-ritual outfit. Inside-out pajamas welcome.

Getting there

• Light rail: a 5-minute walk from the Capitol Hill station.

• Driving? Street parking nearby, or the paid lot next to the café ($4/hr).
