About this event
These weekly meditations are a unique approach to self-awareness that blend movement, sound, and silence to help release stress, awaken inner harmony, and open the door to deeper awareness and presence.
Developed by the Indian mystic Osho, these practices, often called Active Meditations, were designed to meet the needs of modern people who struggle with sitting still due to accumulated tension in the body and mind. Instead of beginning with quiet contemplation, the meditations often start with dynamic activity such as dance, chaotic movement, or expressive sounds, allowing participants to discharge repressed emotions and energy. Once this release occurs, the body and mind naturally settle into a state of inner stillness, making it easier to experience awareness and presence. Osho emphasized that meditation is not separate from life; it can be woven into everyday activities like walking, working, or simply breathing consciously.
In this class we will explore and experience a different technique each Saturday, including Kundalini Meditation, Chakra Sounds Meditation, Nadabrahma Meditation, Nataraj Meditation, and a Body, Breath, and Awareness Meditation followed by a short Osho Discourse , These techiques invite practitioners to explore silence through activity, ultimately cultivating a deeper connection to themselves and the present moment.
• Kundalini Meditation is a one-hour, four-stage practice designed to release tension and awaken inner energy. It begins with 15 minutes of shaking to loosen the body and dissolve energetic blocks, followed by 15 minutes of free-form dancing to let energy flow into joy and expression. The third stage invites stillness and witnessing, either sitting or standing, while the final stage is a period of lying down in silence, allowing the awakened energy to rise and settle into deep peace.
• Chakra Sounds Meditation uses vocal tones and music to open, harmonize, and bring awareness to the body’s seven energy centers. This one-hour practice unfolds in two stages: the first 45 minutes guide participants through sound vibrations rising from the base chakra up to the crown, then descending back down, repeated three times. Practitioners either make their own vocal sounds or simply listen to the specially composed meditation music, allowing the tones to resonate within each chakra. The second stage is 15 minutes of silent sitting or lying down, witnessing whatever arises in deep stillness. By engaging both sound and silence, this meditation leads to profound peace and centered awareness.
• Nadabrahma Meditation is a 1-hour “humming meditation” that brings harmony between body and mind through sound and gentle movement. The practice unfolds in three stages: first, participants sit with eyes closed and hum continuously for 30 minutes, creating vibrations that resonate throughout the body and gradually shift into a state of listening. In the second stage, lasting 15 minutes, slow hand movements are performed—palms up in outward circles to give energy to the universe, then palms down in inward circles to receive energy back. The final stage is 15 minutes of silent sitting, simply witnessing whatever arises. Osho described Nadabrahma as a way to let body and mind fall into tune, so that one can “slip out of their hold” and rest in pure awareness, experiencing peace and bliss.
• Nataraj Meditation is a 65‑minute practice that transforms dance into a path of deep awareness. It unfolds in three stages: first, with eyes closed, participants dance freely for 40 minutes—surrendering control and allowing the unconscious to move the body. The second stage is 20 minutes of lying down in silence, letting the energy settle into stillness. Finally, the third stage is 5 minutes of celebratory dance, embodying joy and playfulness. Osho emphasized that in this meditation, one must “forget the dancer and become the dance,” so that all inner division dissolves and only pure movement remains. When the dancer disappears, dance itself becomes meditation, opening the door to a subtle, relaxed awareness beyond the ego.
• Body and Breath Awareness Meditation is a gentle, grounding, guided meditation that invites you to settle into your body, open your breath, and expand your inner awareness. You’ll be guided through a slow, embodied meditation that softens tension and brings you into deeper presence. Afterward, we may close with a brief Osho discourse; offering insight, clarity, and a touch of spacious wisdom to carry with you into the rest of your day.
