About this event

Our fall Pacific Northwest SABR Chapter meeting is scheduled from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM Saturday, November 7, 2026, at the Seattle Pacific University Ames Library seminar room. The Ames Library is at 3307 3rd Ave. West, Seattle WA 98119. The seminar room is on the second floor. All baseball fans are welcome to attend.

We will be able to access the meeting room at 11:00, so come in early if you want to socialize. This would be a good time to display any artifacts you’d like to share or swap books. The library closes at 4:00 p.m., so our meeting will end then too.

We will begin by discussing chapter business, focusing on the future of PNW SABR and specifically, brainstorming programming options for the coming year. Then, we will host three presentations.

We will welcome Kevin Martinez , the Seattle Mariners’ President of Business Operations. He will join us to talk about, and answer our questions, relating to the Mariners’ 2026 season-long 50th Anniversary Celebration—the 50 Greatest Mariners Team, Alumni HR Derby, and other commemorations.

Next, PNW SABR member and Mariner radio broadcaster, Gary Hill Jr. , will share with us his view from the broadcast booth and answer our questions about broadcasting the M’s.

Finally, PNW SABR member Steve Friedman , co-editor of the 2026 SABR publication, “Two Outs, So What!: The 2001 Seattle Mariners,” will share the new book with us. PNW SABR members contributed several pieces to this anthology. He will discuss what goes into issuing a SABR publication, and how all of us—even us novice researchers—can contribute to these types of projects.

Logistical driving/parking assistance from our resident SPU host, Professor Bill Woodward: “Access free parking from W Dravus St, three blocks south from the traffic signal at 3rd W and W Nickerson, as shown at https://spu.edu/campus-map/img/spu-campus-map-2023.pdf (Dravus Lot #45).
