About this event

This is a 60 minute class. All levels welcome! This is a great class for beginners to start their yoga journey. The postures are similar to those in the Vinyasa and Hatha style classes but the pace is slow with much longer holds. You will learn the proper alignment of each posture, different options that work for your body as well as ways to use props to help soften or deepen your postures. Movement Meditation Yoga classes help: Calm the mind Improve strength, balance and flexibility This is a non-heated class. Wear what you are comfortable in. (Please note the room will still be warm from previous class and the temperature may vary so we encourage people to wear layers to adjust to the temperature.) Bring a yoga mat, large bath towel or yoga towel (optional) and a bottle of water. If you don't have a mat and/or towel, you may rent one at the studio. You may also choose to bring your own props but we have some at the studio to use free of charge. Please show up on time (at least 5 minutes before the class starts). If you are new to the studio, please show up about 10-15 minutes before the class start time so you can get settled and we can register you for the class, if you haven't already. This is what Kevin had to share about his class: "There are many ways to practice the asanas. To focus the energies released inward and upward during and after an asana is a kind of moving meditation that opens up many hidden potentials and realizations about ourselves. With keen attention on alignment we practice standing firmly on our own two feet, deeply engaging the core. This rooting allows us a safe and strong alignment all the way up the sacred spine, where we can realize massive benefits in both physical and subtle ways throughout all the asanas. We practice breathing deeply, and relaxing, even in the midst of great effort. Through the use of affirmations and pranayama we align our own consciousness with more expanded realities. Pausing between postures in a very dynamic way and combining all these things in one intentional focus is perhaps the most powerful aspect of this ancient practice. It is a profound integration, an art and science, an immersion which attunes us with the great yoga masters near and far, and brings us into awareness of our best and highest Self. *Warning: Spontaneous Joy may flow through you in boundless waves!"
