About this event
Northwest Film Forum, Seattle Film Society, and SeaDoc present TRUTH TO FICTION: a monthly series of documentaries highlighting stories from the Pacific Northwest and far beyond.
This month, join us for a screening of The Store, directed by Frederick Wiseman (United States, 1983, 118 min, in English).
Synopsis: During the rush between Thanksgiving and Christmas, Neiman Marcus’s flagship store in Dallas is aglow with anticipation. Across departments—from designer fashion to household goods—sales training and executive meetings take place, coordinating the meticulous business of luxury retail.
“…witnessing how an establishment deftly caters to such appetites makes for an engrossing spectacle… Only Wiseman seems able to consistently capture those tiny, illuminating surprises that stay with us long after he’s through with us.” –Harry F. Waters, Newsweek
