If you ride Everett Transit, this one's for you. The Everett City Council voted unanimously Wednesday to approve a consolidation with Community Transit. The 7-0 vote likely ends 57 years of the city running its own transit system, one of the few city-run systems left in Washington.

Council President Don Schwab told the crowd and colleagues he was first opposed but switched to support after seeing the agreement. He said it "will bring more frequent reliable service adds greater financial stability and better integration with light rail." Now it's Community Transit's turn. If its board approves the agreement, the agency would begin operating inside Everett's borders.
