Becoming a Rock Star Dog Handler!

About this event

"Becoming a Rock Star Dog Handler" is a collaboration between Motley Zoo Animal Rescue and rehabilitator, Tom Murawski of TM Dog Training .

This affordable, PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN , community-based training program is designed to strengthen the bond between dogs and their handlers while stopping/ preventing behavioral challenges, getting foster and adopters (from any organization) started on the right foot- and reducing animal welfare intakes, by helping keep dogs in the homes where they are loved.

The animal welfare system is experiencing an unprecedented crisis and overwhelmed with many times the number of animals typically seen in past years.

Combined with a significantly reduced interest in adoption, foster and donations, the result is an increase in animals in danger and dying in shelters.

The ongoing series teaches practical skills, including clear communication, leash handling, impulse control, canine body language, and confidence-building.

Open to dog owners, adopters, fosters, volunteers, and partner organizations, the program empowers people to become more capable, confident handlers.

By sharing Motley Zoo’s 17 years of training and rehabilitation experience with the broader community, this program extends its impact beyond the animals directly in our care. We supports foster families, strengthens rescue organizations, prepare potential adopters, and helps keep dogs safely in their homes.

At its core, our program recognizes that prevention is powerful. By investing in people’s skills and confidence, we can reduce behavioral challenges, strengthen the human-animal bond, and save more lives.

We're not just a rescue- we're training people and dogs in a crisis prevention and community-building effort- all in one!
