About this event

Saturday, December 5 • 1 PM – 4 PM

Learn how yeasted dough, despite the addition of weighty fats, magically turns into the softest, airiest treats!

Master the art of enriched dough in this hands-on workshop with Evan Sponsler, Carnation Farm Baker. What is an enriched dough you ask? It is a yeasted dough that, despite the addition of weighty fats, magically turn into the softest, airiest treats. In this class you will learn the one foundational recipe you need to explore how to transform just a few ingredients into a wide variety of baked goods, from buttery dinner rolls, gooey cinnamon rolls, and show-stopping braided babkas. Topics will include mixing basics, shaping technique, and more. Throughout the afternoon, you’ll learn how to make:

• Tang Zhong (milk bread)

• Dinner rolls

• Cinnamon rolls

• Braided doughs (if time allows)

This hands-on class is perfect for home bakers of all skill levels looking to gain confidence in a new area and elevate their baking.

About our Baker : Evan’s love for food started during his childhood in St. Louis, Missouri, where he learned to cook from his Filipino mom and bake with his grandma. He worked in kitchens in between coursework for a Psychology degree, but ultimately he fell in love with the grain. He came to Carnation Farms via the Herbfarm and DERU Market. He strives to ensure his baking practices match our regenerative mission and that you can taste the difference in our loaves.
