If you ride Everett Transit, here's the timeline. The Community Transit board voted 9-0 Thursday to finalize the merger, a day after the Everett City Council approved the agreement 7-0. Everett Transit, a city system since 1969, stops operating April 1, 2027, and its routes and schedules will mostly stay the same until then.
- Extra tax: 6 cents on a $10 taxable purchase
- Employees: Everett Transit staff can work for Community Transit or the city
- Contracts: labor agreements of transferring employees will be honored

If you use paratransit, current Everett riders as of March 31, 2027 keep the service. Riders who turn 65 after the merger no longer automatically qualify and would have to meet ADA requirements. Union seniority will be settled in collective bargaining after labor contracts expire at the end of 2027.
The transit sales tax in Everett doubles, and there's no public vote because a 2025 state law removed that requirement. Steve Oss, union president for Everett Transit drivers, said fares would jump from $2 to $3.
