COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Edmonds Food Bank received $850,000 in federal funds on Thursday and launched a $12 million campaign due to a 30% rise in demand serving over 1,500 households weekly; the food bank is now seeking a larger space to expand services — a key step to better serve its community.  Everett Herald

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Election results show that while most school levies and bonds passed Tuesday, measures in Darrington and Monroe (with some bonds in Monroe, Mukilteo and Northshore falling short of required 60%) did not pass. Twelve school districts and one fire district sought votes to secure funds for programs and building projects.  Everett Herald
  • Everett libraries offer free storytimes for babies, toddlers and families each week (with sessions available in the mornings, afternoons and evenings at Monroe and other branches). Pre-registration is often required to secure a spot on these engaging sessions.  Snohomish County Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Snohomish County Council selected the Salvation Army and YWCA to provide services at two New Start centers in Everett and Edmonds, converting hotels into temporary shelters. The centers will help people secure permanent housing within 90 days, with operations supported by federal grants + local sales tax funds.  Snohomish County Tribune
  • The Port of Everett released its Insider’s Guide today to detail parking options at the waterfront and announced that the new Trawley shuttle service will begin this spring + the guide outlines visitor lot rules and pricing.   Everett Post
