- ➤ Arlington’s Volunteers of America Distribution Center received a 32,000-pound food donation from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Feb. 6 and will distribute it to county food banks (including Everett Community Food Bank), providing over 26,000 meals amid rising demand. - ➤ The Everett Music Initiative announced Monday that it will end its annual Fisherman’s Village Music Festival after nearly 12 years in downtown Everett. The nonprofit said it will focus on expanding Music at the Marina and weekly open mic nights at El Sid. Everett Herald
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Everett voters approved the school-construction bond and levy on Feb. 12 with 63% and 64% support. The measures will fund the district's new 19th elementary school in the south and the rebuild of Lowell Elementary for future improvements. Snohomish County Tribune
- ➤ Snohomish County Council is accepting applications for its Legislative Page Program in Everett. The program offers two spots per district for students aged 14 to 17 to shadow council members from April 27 to May 1, working 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and earning $65 per day+teacher recommendation required by March 16. - ➤ In 2025, the Snohomish County Sports Commission reported that sports tourism generated about $42 million—this record year saw nearly 43,000 room nights booked and 37 sports played in 12 communities. Over 150 tournaments brought more than 230,000 visitors to the region. Everett Post
