- ➤ Yesterday morning the Snohomish County Council held a public hearing and passed Ordinance 25-014—allowing duplexes and attached single family dwellings to add accessory dwelling units and removing old architectural standards for urban zones. Council Vice Chair Megan Dunn sponsored the measure—intended to boost affordable housing options and align county regulations with state law. My Everett News
- ➤ Everett City Council approved more than $200 million in bonds Wednesday to fund construction projects including a $181 million water and sewer revenue bond for work at the Port Gardner Storage Facility and $28 million in bonds for replacing the Edgewater Bridge, upgrading the Municipal Building and renovating the riverfront — projects that will improve the Riverfront Trail and Eclipse Mill Park — as part of the city's routine capital efforts. - ➤ The Snohomish County Council approved new legislation that expands child care in unincorporated areas by removing the rule that centers be tied to a school or church—this change allows centers up to 8,000 square feet and streamlines parking and traffic reviews. Councilmembers Nehring and Mead said the move is a step toward easing the current child care shortage, though more efforts will be needed to boost access and affordability. Everett Post
