- ➤ On March 18th the Snohomish County Council held a panel discussion to address the high cost and limited supply of childcare in the area—panelists noted that families face fees of about $20,370 for infant care and $15,720 for care for four-year-olds and proposed policy changes to ease these challenges. - ➤ Today, Port of Everett officials said they will re-solicit bids for a 165‑foot‑long bulkhead replacement near Grand Avenue Park Bridge after initial bids exceeded the $4.4 million budget by about 30%—the aging bulkhead is at the end of its lifespan. They plan to lower subcontractor rules to attract more bidders and may start work in the second half of 2025—officials aim to meet a September deadline to secure a $2.2 million federal grant. - ➤ Sound Transit will vote on King County Executive Dow Constantine as its next permanent CEO on Thursday, and he is expected to succeed interim chief Goran Sparrman if approved.
