ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Local officials installed a new greenhouse film from Korean startup SunXel on Thursday at Food Bank Farm to help farmers recover from recent floods and extend their growing season. The project, funded through the Floodplains by Design grant program (supporting 12 farmers), offers tailored climate protection for crops.  Everett Herald
  • Paul Roberts, a retired environmental advisor in Everett, says a speeding warming climate is bringing heavy rains, snow, and flooding to western Washington today. He urges state lawmakers to preserve climate funds and update adaptation plans with new data to better prepare communities for risks like wildfires and drought.  Everett Herald

  • Everett gets closer to better late-night transit as Sound Transit approved a plan for an overnight bus running between Seattle and Everett from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. The new service is expected to open in 2027 after Community Transit finishes transitioning its operations in-house.  Everett Herald
