COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Sabrina Donovan, a case manager at the Everett-based nonprofit Sound Pathways who has helped more than 60 families secure housing since 2023, is one of 12 finalists for the Emerging Leaders awards with the winner to be announced Tuesday, Apr. 7.  Everett Herald
  • No Name Riders will hold a week-late egg hunt on April 12 at American Legion Park. About 700 baskets with bikes, toys, and free burgers + hot dogs will be given out by the club for families to enjoy.  Everett Herald
  • Marina and Jetty Island Cleanup Day will be held Saturday, Apr. 18 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Fisherman’s Tribute (across from Bluewater Organic Distilling), where volunteers aged 18+ can sign up or drop in and enjoy free supplies, snacks, and boat rides on a first-come basis.  Everett Post
  • Rachel Downes, chief strategic officer at Housing Hope, is one of 12 finalists for the Emerging Leaders awards & drives the affordable housing project Scriber Place, set to house 52 families with spring completion; the awards winner will be announced on April 7.  Everett Herald

  • Mountlake Terrace High School’s jazz band received a workshop Monday from veteran trombonist Francisco Torres as they prepare for the Essentially Ellington Competition and Festival in New York on April 30. The group is one of 20 invited nationwide to showcase its talent on a national stage.  Everett Herald

  • Kari Bray of the Snohomish County Executive Office is one of 12 finalists for the Emerging Leaders awards (the winner will be announced April 7), highlighting her work in coordinating public information and disaster response across the county.  Everett Herald

SPORTS NEWS

  • Osciel Perez scored twice to help Monroe tie Glacier Peak 3 to 3 on Tuesday+ while Everett’s Bruins won with a key goal by Fansu Conteh; other local high schools played in close games on a busy prep sports day.  Everett Herald
  • Granite Falls Tigers scored 21 runs on Tuesday, Mar. 31, in a run-rule win over Marysville Pilchuck on the prep baseball diamond. Drake Smith had five RBI while Dwayne Pocknett Jr. and Landon Gwinner added key hits in the high-scoring game.  Everett Herald
  • Mountlake Terrace won its prep girls tennis match with a 4-3 final score over Archbishop Murphy in the final doubles match at Gateway M.S. on Tuesday, March 31. Other local schools also posted wins in a busy day of tennis.  Everett Herald
  • The Everett AquaSox announced Tuesday their 30-player Opening Day roster featuring 22 returning championship players and eight newcomers. The team will open the season on Friday at Avista Stadium in Spokane and host its home opener at Everett Memorial Stadium Field on April 7.  Everett Herald
