  • Christina Strand, a community engagement specialist with Community Transit and board president for Sharing Wheels in Everett—an organization that repairs bikes and offers classes for low-income residents, is a finalist for the Herald Business Journal’s Emerging Leaders Award and works to make transit affordable in Snohomish County. The award winner will be named on April 8.  Everett Herald
  • Melinda Cervantes, a dedicated volunteer in Snohomish County, has built bridges for Spanish-speaking residents by linking them with public representatives through her work with the Everett Fire Department and other local nonprofits. She is one of 12 finalists for the Herald Business Journal’s Emerging Leaders Award and will be honored on April 8.  Everett Herald
  • Kellie Lewis, the 39-year-old marketing and communications director at Edmonds Food Bank, held five open houses in 2024 that brought community helpers together and empowered volunteers of all ages. CRIME NEWS

  • The search continues today for Jonathan Hoang, a 21-year-old Arlington man who was last seen on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. wearing a green shirt, khaki pants and black slip-on shoes and possibly carrying his iPad — officials have deployed ground teams, K-9 units, drones and the SnoHawk 5 helicopter to scour local areas — and they urge residents to check backyards, outbuildings and garages for clues.  Everett Herald

  • Everett communications director Nichole Webber, 36, is one of 12 finalists for the Herald Business Journal’s Emerging Leaders Award + will be honored at an event on April 8. She led Mayor Cassie Franklin’s campaign in 2017 + now coaches youth sports and serves on the Everett Hoops Club Basketball board.  Everett Herald
  • Everett Police Department's Public Information Officer Natalie Given is one of 12 finalists for the Herald Business Journal’s Emerging Leaders Award and helped organize Cafecito con la Policia, a community event held days after a homicide on Casino Road to listen to Spanish speaking residents concerns. Given worked with local groups and city planning — aiming to strengthen police communication — and the award winner will be announced on April 8.  Everett Herald

HEALTH NEWS

  • Providence Swedish has expanded its Behavioral Health services in Everett and Edmonds, opening a new Pacific Campus space at 916 Pacific Ave—offering a five-day partial hospitalization program—and a consolidated outpatient clinic at 20701 76th Ave W that increased capacity from 12 to 30 patients. The changes, funded entirely by community and foundation support, aim to help ease the rising mental health needs in North Puget Sound.  My Everett News
