GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The city of Everett released a complete draft of its 20-year comprehensive plan update that outlines policies for transit, housing, walkability, and environmental protection—residents can give feedback until May 12 and the City Council may adopt the update as early as June 11.  Everett Herald
  • Mayor Cassie Franklin has been selected to join a national program on pedestrian safety that will give her expert tools to boost Everett’s Vision Zero plan—over the next six months she will work with other mayors and experts to learn new ways to make our streets safer.  City of Everett
  • The state issued a drought advisory on April 8th that excludes Everett water customers and city officials say the water supply remains strong—Spada Reservoir is at 125% of normal storage while snowpack is 75% as of April 1st; staff continue to monitor use and expect enough supply for people and fish this summer.  My Everett News
  • Highway 529 northbound will close Friday at 10 p.m. until Monday at 4 a.m. to let WSDOT contractor crews pave a road section, weather permitting. Pedestrians, bicyclists and people using mobility devices will be served by a shuttle—drivers reaching Smith Island northbound must use the southbound lane when leaving.  Everett Herald
