- ➤ Everett Recovery Café celebrated its 10th anniversary with an open house on April 5—welcoming community members with art, food, and information about its recovery programs. - ➤ A Snohomish County jury awarded $3.25 million to Dana Bahrakis for lasting injuries from a 2022 police dog bite outside Angel of the Winds Casino in Mountlake Terrace — the aggressive dog was put down and a court hearing is set for April 18 as the city will fight the decision — after finding the city at fault. - ➤ A 54-year-old Everett man, Steven Goldstine, appeared in federal court on Thursday after being charged with a Dec. 31 pipe bomb attack that damaged a neighbor’s car and involved racial slurs—he was arrested on March 17 and found with tools and ammunition linked to the explosive. Everett Herald
- ➤ The Everett Police Department is investigating two assaults at bikini barista coffee stands on Evergreen Way after a man tried to attack employees at Ladybug Espresso on April 6 and at Steamy Shots Espresso on April 9, and he is described as a thin, light-skinned black or Hispanic man in his 20s, 6 ft 3 in tall with a dark moustache or small goatee—detectives are asking the public for help. - ➤ Crews working on the Edgewater Bridge Replacement Project are nearly finished placing piling — later this month they will begin dismantling the old bridge while keeping Mukilteo Boulevard closed to protect the public. Workers remind everyone that the construction site remains off-limits for safety. City of Everett
- ➤ The North County Fire Board of Commissioners approved a resolution Wednesday to put a levy lid lift on the Aug. 5 special election ballot—if approved, the rate will increase from $1.32 to $1.50 per $1,000 of assessed value, costing an average $90 more per year for a $500,000 home to fund new vehicles and station upgrades.
