ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ A recent study by Seniorly shows that Washington ranks No. 1 for older workers because the state has no personal income tax — aside from a capital gains tax — and strong business growth that helps boost senior incomes. The report said 22.4% of the workforce in 2025 is made up of workers aged 65 and older. Everett Post

- ➤ U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen met with Snohomish County officials on April 16 in Mountlake Terrace—discussing transit priorities such as the light rail expansion to Everett Station and Community Transit's Swift Gold Line. Officials said that federal funding reviews and rising construction costs could delay key projects, including bridge replacements and roadway improvements—raising concerns for local transportation plans. - ➤ Everett City Council approved a budget amendment on March 19 that allocated carried forward funds for new employees and work on its multipurpose stadium project. The amendment increased general spending by just under $200,000 and non-general spending by about $2.3 million—$600,000 of which will pay for legal fees to develop a financing plan and negotiate contracts. - ➤ Everett—County council member Jared Mead introduced Amendment Three to the Critical Area Regulations draft last week to change buffer rules and balance environmental protection with housing needs.
