EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Monroe School District is considering a capital levy to fund essential building repairs and replace the aging alternative learning center after its bond failed. If approved, voters will see the levy on a future August or November ballot, and it is expected to last 2 to 6 years while raising about $35 million. Everett Herald
FINANCE NEWS
- ➤ Washington Lottery reports unclaimed prizes totaling $9 million statewide, urging players to check their tickets. Winners include a Tulalip prize for $115K that will expire in July and a Coupeville prize for $10K that must be claimed before Oct. 5 — tickets are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Snohomish County Board of Health adopted new rules requiring septic system inspections for home sales starting Nov. 1 to comply with state law (effective Feb. 1) and will offer outreach to guide buyers and sellers. Everett Herald
- ➤ Edgewater Bridge linking Everett and Mukilteo will reopen on Tuesday, April 28—after being closed since Oct. 30, 2024—to offer residents new wide sidewalks and bike lanes. A community celebration is set Monday, April 27 at 3:30 p.m. where people can walk the new structure. Snohomish County Tribune
- ➤ WSDOT relaunched the WE-bike program on March 30 to offer e-bike rebates that may cut purchase costs by $300 or $1,200 for qualifying residents. Applications close March 29, 2027, with monthly selections beginning April 13 + the next round on May 11. Everett Post

- ➤ On Monday at Jackson High School, Kamiak’s pitcher Synclair Mawudeku tossed a one-hitter as her team rallied in the seventh inning to secure a 6-0 win over the Timberwolves. Everett Herald
- ➤ Everett Seagulls beat Stanwood 4-0 on Monday when Anna Luscher struck out 13 in a complete-game two-hitter while teammates drove in all four runs to secure the win. Everett Herald
- ➤ Prep girls tennis matches held Monday, Apr. 20 saw close wins in several divisions as Glacier Peak beat Jackson 4-3 at Jackson H.S. and Kamiak defeated Cascade 4-3, with teams posting strong singles and doubles results at local schools. Everett Herald
