- ➤ Debut author Natasha Zimmers released Tiny Hiker in March 2026, a picture book inspired by her family hikes that uses playful text and vivid illustrations to invite children and families to explore local nature. - ➤ School meal debts in Snohomish County have risen as Monroe School District owes $220K and Snohomish School District owes over $84K as of March, with Everett’s past debts remaining low. Unemployment has led to fewer donations for unpaid meals and districts now rely on local food banks to assist families. Snohomish County Tribune
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Two Snohomish County tourism advisory boards are accepting applications to fill five vacancies (four on the Tourism Promotion Area Board and one on the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee) as they seek lodging business representatives with community experience. - ➤ Providence Regional Medical Center Everett will begin a new hospitalist partnership with California-based Vituity on July 29 after ending its 20-year deal with Optum, with current hospitalists transitioning to support patient care continuity at the center. Everett Herald

- ➤ Everett AquaSox won a 5-2 game against Spokane at Everett Memorial Stadium on Tuesday. Pitcher Taylor Dollard (27) led with strong pitching while the team rallied with four runs in the eighth inning to secure their series opener. Everett Herald
- ➤ On Tuesday, Glacier Peak scored all six runs in the fourth inning against Jackson to win 6-4 and take first place in their league. Key contributions came from players including Kalell Chim, JW Grose, Lucas Keller and Atticus Quist. Everett Herald
- ➤ The Everett Silvertips won their Friday game with an overtime goal by Landon DuPont + advancing in the WHL playoffs; they will face the Penticton Vees starting Thursday + Saturday at Angel of the Winds Arena. Snohomish County Tribune
