  • Evergreen Zine Fest on April 25 at Bayside Café in Everett will feature 34 zine & indie comix makers offering self-published art for all ages and the free event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. while showcasing local creativity.  Everett Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Federal Emergency Management Agency approved almost $21 million on Thursday to support flood mitigation in Washington & Oregon. Snohomish County received nearly $300,000 to fund an in-depth study of its flood infrastructure following record-breaking December floods.  Everett Herald

SPORTS NEWS

  • Jackson girls tennis moved to a 9-2 record with wins at Kamiak (H.S.) on Thursday, April 23. Strong performances came from Edmonds-Woodway and Everett teams in track and field meets at Monroe H.S. and Clark Park.  Everett Herald
  • Everett Silvertips secured a four to one win over the Penticton Vees in Game 1 of the WHL Western Conference Finals at Angel of the Winds Arena on Thursday — their depth scoring lifted the team when top line players were held scoreless. The team will seek to extend its series lead in Game 2 on Saturday, 6:30 p.m.  Everett Herald
  • Everett’s Carlos Jimenez drove in six runs to give the AquaSox an 11 to 3 win against Spokane in a Northwest League game yesterday at Everett Memorial Stadium. Jimenez struck a three run double to start scoring — the team built an early lead and won their fourth straight game.  Everett Herald
