- ➤ Community members, labor leaders and local elected officials gathered in Everett on April 23 to honor Worker’s Memorial Day—remembering workers injured or killed on the job. Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers and Mayor Cassie Franklin called for stronger workplace safety as a statewide memorial took place on April 24. Everett Herald
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Snohomish County households earning less than 150% of the median income are encouraged to apply for green appliance subsidies from climate justice group Kicking Gas, which will support 80 households in switching to electric appliances. Info sessions are scheduled online on April 28 and in person on May 3 in Darrington and May 6 in Marysville — the current funding ends at the end of June. Everett Herald

- ➤ Since voters approved the Sound Move plan in 1996, Sound Transit has generated over $21.8 billion in tax revenue from local taxes—raising nearly $10.3 billion from 2019 to 2023 after successive voter-approved plans added new revenue measures. Everett Post
- ➤ Joe Hernandez and his family were honored on Earth Day at the county campus in Everett for their decade of volunteer work on South Machias Road, with county Executive Dave Somers presenting them a new Adopt-A-Road sign—marking a long-running community effort since 2008.
