- ➤ A climber fell nearly 100 feet from a cliff near Upper Town Wall outside Index Saturday around 3 p.m. and was rescued by Sky Valley Fire crews plus technical rescue teams before being airlifted by a SnoHawk helicopter to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett with non-life-threatening injuries — nearby BNSF railroad traffic was briefly halted during the rescue — officials confirmed. - ➤ Two young males, aged 17 and 19, were arrested on Monday in Lynnwood after they allegedly fired multiple rounds into a Swift bus on April 18 during a confrontation that nearly hit a passenger – the 19-year-old was booked at Snohomish County Jail for investigation of attempted murder while the 17-year-old is held at Denney Juvenile Justice Center on related charges. - ➤ Lynnwood police reported that on Sunday at 6:40 p.m. at a home on the 18600 block of 42nd Place West, an adult son who allegedly attempted to stab his mother refused to leave, leading to a brief standoff before he surrendered—his mother sustained non-life-threatening injuries and he was taken to a hospital for treatment of a self-inflicted injury before being booked for investigation of first-degree assault. - ➤ Brier voters rejected a public safety levy on April 22 that would have increased the property tax rate to fund two new patrol sergeant positions, leaving city officials warning that police staffing is not sustainable—officials now plan to explore other funding options to address a $500,000 annual shortfall. - ➤ Kaiser Permanente will open its expanded Everett Medical Center—more than three times its current size—on June 3 on Maple Street near I-5 to offer a wider range of specialty care, advanced imaging, and pharmacy services.
