- ➤ The Everett Garden Club will host its annual plant sale (from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 9 at the corner of 52nd Street and Evergreen Way) as part of Snohomish County garden sales planned for spring. Everett Herald

- ➤ Puget Sound Bird Fest will return to Edmonds on June 6-7 with guided bird walks, presentations, exhibits and a birding cruise from the Marina. Registration for bird walks and the photography workshop opens Friday. Everett Herald
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Sound Transit is introducing free parking permits for carpoolers starting today at Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace City Center stations — reserved spots are available from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m. on weekdays covering about 5 to 10% of parking spaces. Everett Herald
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Everett Silvertips head coach Steve Hamilton was named WHL Coach of the Year on April 30 after leading the team to a historic season. His team set new win records (57 wins in his second season) and matched key schedule benchmarks. Everett Post
- ➤ Shorewood won 4-3 against Meadowdale at Meadowdale Playfields on Thursday as pitcher Ellie Van Horn earned a key RBI and struck out nine batters. Shorewood holds an 11-5 record and leads Edmonds-Woodway by two games with three league contests remaining. Everett Herald
- ➤ On Thursday, Apr. 30, the league-leading Snohomish Panthers edged Everett 4-3 at home in a tense contest as Abby Edwards struck out 15 in seven innings while Everett's Anna Luscher pitched six no-run frames. Everett Herald
