- ➤ On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, Community Transit hosted a workshop at the Everett YMCA to teach seniors how to load ORCA cards and ride local buses, including a field trip to the Lynnwood City Center station. More than a dozen seniors learned best practices for using the transit system and received one month of free rides (a move that aimed to ease their worries about navigating public transit). - ➤ World Flavors at The Kitchen at Quil Ceda Creek Casino is celebrating Cinco de Mayo throughout May by featuring its creamy chicken verde enchiladas—along with chicken fiesta and chili mac bowls—so locals can enjoy a taste of Mexican flavor all month. Everett Herald

- ➤ Anna Marie Jackson Laurence was selected to fill Director Position 3 on the Everett Public Schools Board of Directors at a special meeting on May 1 — the board voted three to one — and she will be sworn in at the meeting on May 13 with a full-day orientation in June as she serves until December. - ➤ Educator Chris Gove runs the Teen Storytellers Project in Everett where local youth learn filmmaking skills for free through regular classes—offered at his main location, in the Casino Road neighborhood, and at local detention centers. Gove began the program in Snohomish in 2019 before moving it to Everett in 2022 and earned a Mayor’s Arts Award in April for his work. Everett Herald

- ➤ Snohomish County Council approved ordinances on Wednesday to limit RV parking on public roads in unincorporated areas to 72 hours — vehicles parked longer will risk impoundment using funds from the nuisance properties abatement program. The Office of Neighborhoods will lead enforcement while providing support to residents in these situations. Everett Herald
- ➤ Everett’s contractor will begin demolishing the old Edgewater Bridge on Monday, May 5 by sawcutting and removing three deck sections—then dismantling floor beams, girders and all five spans—with the bridge expected to reopen in early 2026. The work zone remains closed to the public for safety reasons. City of Everett
