- ➤ The Stillaguamish Tribe is converting farmland into wetlands to revive Chinook salmon by removing levees; the project began in October with a 230-acre tidal marsh (part of 2,000 acres bought over 15 years) in its traditional territory to ease flood risks. KUOW

- ➤ Hockey stays strong in the local rec league as 77-year-old Lonnie Roughton leads the Hackers in late-night games that feature full gear and real camaraderie.
