ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Everett Fire responded at 8:25 a.m. Monday to Woodhaven Apartments on Fowler Ave when a neighbor reported smoke and an active alarm—firefighters found an unresponsive man and pronounced him dead while the fire’s cause remains under investigation. Everett Herald
- ➤ Firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire at Trojan Storage on the 13000 block of 4th Street West in south Everett at about 6:50 p.m. Monday—smoke and flames were reported—and by 7:30 p.m. crews had largely controlled the blaze. Everett Herald
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Everett police built a case against Christian Sayre, who faced repeated arrests since a 2020 sexual assault report and was convicted on charges including child rape and indecent liberties—his final trial opening statements began May 5. Everett Herald
- ➤ Former bar owner Christian Sayre began his fourth trial yesterday in Everett when a witness testified about a 2017 alleged sexual assault at Anchor Pub—he faces charges related to drugging and sexually assaulting women and the trial is set to conclude May 16. Everett Herald
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Interviews for the Northshore School District superintendent search began this week after Superintendent Michael Tolley announced his retirement on Jan. 29—his last day is June 30. The school board will host a public town hall with final candidates from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on May 13 at Inglemoor High School so the public can give feedback. Everett Herald

- ➤ Everett will host an open house on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the Carl Gipson Center, 3025 Lombard Ave. to get feedback on its proposed comprehensive plan update that aims to boost housing supply, guide new development, and enhance transportation; the update is set for completion by June 30 while draft comments will be accepted until May 26. - ➤ King, Pierce and Snohomish counties and five other jurisdictions filed a lawsuit in federal court on Friday to block new federal grant conditions that bar DEI programs—conditions that risk hundreds of millions in transit and homelessness funds. A temporary restraining order was issued on Monday to protect critical local funding for these services. Everett Post
