- ➤ Snohomish County letter carriers will add an extra task to their routes Saturday as they collect food donations for the 32nd annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Residents are encouraged to fill their bright yellow bags with nonperishable items—such as peanut butter, canned chicken, and baby food—and local partners have stepped in to support food banks amid federal funding cuts—helping ensure the drive's success. - ➤ A 13-year-old boy died after receiving three days of hospital care following a collision with a braided cable while riding his electric bike near the 8800 block on 5th Avenue West in south Everett—police confirmed the cable has since been removed. Everett Herald

- ➤ Economic Alliance Snohomish County will host its annual update on May 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Boeing Future of Flight—presented by Boeing, Banner Bank, and Everett Community College, the event will feature County Executive Dave Somers and panelists discussing regional economic growth, sustainable fuel policy, infrastructure investment, and workforce development. - ➤ Mel Sheldon received the Elson S. Floyd Award from Economic Alliance Snohomish County for his long work on Tribal Council that built economic strength for the Tulalip Tribes. He helped secure projects like a new water pipeline from Everett — his efforts ended a long dispute and brought lasting benefits to tribal members. Everett Herald
- ➤ County Executive Dave Somers received the Henry M. Jackson Award from Economic Alliance Snohomish County—an honor for his service and work to grow local business—and he said tariffs from China may challenge the local economy next year but his team will work to overcome these hurdles. - ➤ Paul Roberts won the Chair’s Legacy Award from Economic Alliance Snohomish County for his 40-year career in environmental protection and city planning—his efforts include work as an elected official and advisor in local government.
