- ➤ Paine Field Community Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 17 at the Snohomish County owned airport. The youth-focused event will feature aircraft displays, talks with pilots, educational opportunities and local food vendors — including a U.S. Navy EA-18G Growler and the local ZeroAvia HyperTruck on display. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Everett officials are considering an ordinance that would require apprentices to work at least 15% of the total labor hours on city construction or renovation projects costing more than $1 million, expanding the current rule that applies only to larger projects. If approved, the ordinance will lower the cost threshold by July 2027—earlier than state law—and the City Council will vote on it May 21. Everett Herald
- ➤ Gov. Bob Ferguson signed a new rent law on Wednesday that limits rent hikes to 7% plus inflation or 10%—whichever is lower as part of a suite of housing measures, including new rules for manufactured home communities and tax relief for disabled veterans. The law took effect immediately and the Department of Commerce will post annual limits by June 1 to guide landlords. KUOW
