COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A ceremony was held on Oct. 17 at Field 2 at Tucker Park to honor volunteer coach Chris Langsea, whose work helped install safety lights on local youth baseball + softball fields. His legacy lives on as his family and community continue to draw inspiration from his service.  Everett Herald

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Explorer Middle School experienced a leak on Apr. 15 that led to a trench repair costing about $100,000 and shutting off water fountains and sinks. Mukilteo School District officials say the incident highlights aging school infrastructure as they consider a bond or levy to fund future improvements.  Everett Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A Snohomish County judge dismissed K’Allen Specht’s petition to enforce clear access to Hillman Place beach in Stanwood on Monday, confirming both sides agree public access remains intact despite signage and barriers. Specht said he will fund a land survey + document access boundaries if the county does not act.  Everett Herald

SPORTS NEWS

  • Girls golf teams from Snohomish, Shorewood, and Everett qualified for State by finishing second, third, and fifth at the District 1 championship on Tuesday, May 12 at Legion Memorial Golf Course — nine additional players earned state qualification.  Everett Herald
  • In Tuesday’s district championships, Snohomish’s Mak Dauer advanced in singles while Molly Hammer + Lily Masche earned a doubles final spot for Wednesday, and in the 4A division, Glacier Peak’s Box sisters and Kumi Jayasinghe advanced with Jackson’s Teegan Bridgman set to face Jayasinghe later.  Everett Herald
  • On Tuesday, May 12, No. 8 Snohomish beat No. 4 Monroe 1-0 in the District 1 3A Tournament. Monroe later upset the Bearcats in the consolation bracket to secure a state spot matchup with No. 10 Edmonds-Woodway on Thursday.  Everett Herald
  • Tuesday night in Everett, Snohomish won 3-2 against Edmonds-Woodway as Blake Kendall’s hit in the bottom of the sixth gave the Panthers (18-4) a state tournament berth; they will face Mount Vernon for the district title Saturday while Edmonds-Woodway (Warriors) meets Shorewood in a loser-out game.  Everett Herald
  • The Mariners beat the Astros 3-1 on Monday as the Astros declined to 16-26, marking their third loss in the AL West. Seattle's hitters—led by Julio Rodriguez—helped extend the Mariners’ winning streak over Houston to eight games.  Everett Herald
  • Yesterday, Shorewood boys soccer trailed early but rallied to win 3-2 against Lynnwood in the District 1 3A semifinals at Shoreline Stadium, securing a spot in Saturday’s title game; seniors Kaito Ayers and Nikola Genadiev scored key goals (their efforts drove the comeback).  Everett Herald
  • Everett’s Seagulls upset top-seeded teams on Tuesday, May 12 to clinch a state berth with a 2-1 win over Stanwood in the district semifinals. The team, riding fresh momentum + rising confidence, will face Sedro-Woolley in the title game on Saturday night.  Everett Herald
