- ➤ Snohomish County Public Utility District will release extra water from Culmback Dam into the Sultan River on Saturday (increasing flows between 10 a.m. and noon); whitewater boaters must pre-register by 5 p.m. Thursday and use caution near higher flows. Everett Herald
- ➤ UW researchers have launched PantryMap.org to study micropantries around Seattle, including in Kirkland, Everett and Port Madison+ sensor data shows each pantry gets about 20 visits and 30 lbs of donated food daily as part of an ongoing study of local food sharing and support. KUOW

- ➤ A court ruled Monday to dismiss an Everett Community College appeal challenging a judge’s requirement for a board vote to close its Early Learning Center. The college shuttered the center in June 2025 due to funding issues and held a vote to comply with the Open Public Meetings Act. Everett Herald
- ➤ Everett Police honored fallen Officer Charles Edward Ray 120 years after death during a Peace Officers Memorial – Law Enforcement Medal of Honor Ceremony in Olympia earlier this month. The department’s Honor Guard visited Washington D.C.—where his name appears on the National Law Enforcement Memorial—to ensure his sacrifice is remembered. My Everett News

- ➤ Everett Public Schools shut off several water taps after state testing found elevated lead levels, and temporary measures allow handwashing only at these spots while officials plan to replace the affected outlets by early August. Everett Herald

- ➤ Everett softball lost 9-0 to Sedro-Woolley in the District 1 3A Championship game at Phil Johnson Ballfields on Thursday — Sedro-Woolley’s Kasandra Gonzalez struck out 15 batters in a no-hitter. - ➤ Everett Silvertips took a 3 to 1 series lead in the WHL Championship by winning Game 4 at Art Hauser Centre on Wednesday. With five goals and key plays from Zackary Shantz and Matias Vanhanen, they need one more win for their first title, with Game 5 set for Friday. Everett Herald
