- ➤ Madison Family Shelter—formerly Faith Family Village—reopened April 21 after a nearly five month break and now offers temporary housing for eight families for 90 days. Within 16 days, one family moved into permanent supportive housing while four shelter units are already full. Everett Herald
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A roughly 20-foot cabin cruiser sank near Howarth Park in Possession Sound Wednesday at around 1:10 p.m.—a good Samaritan rescued one person while emergency responders including a Coast Guard helicopter, rescue boats and fire rescue swimmers continued searching for three others. Everett Herald
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ At a board meeting on May 20, parents, educators and community members criticized Everett Community College for closing its Early Learning Center, which currently serves 71 children and is set to shut by June 30 due to funding problems. Board chair Jerry Martin defended the move—citing unsustainable deficit projections and lost state funds—while critics said the decision was made without proper consultation with staff and parents.
