ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Everett police closed the 10300 block of Evergreen Way on Thursday after a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and two vehicles killed one person—drivers were advised to avoid the area as the investigation continued.  Everett Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Everett city staff are working with local creative businesses and organizations to apply for a Creative District designation from the state to boost creative jobs and attract new grant funds. The application, which will involve community input and result in a five-year designation with local signage on I-5, is set to be completed by November — a key step in strengthening the city's creative economy.  Everett Herald
  • Snohomish County 911 began operating from a new $67.5 million center in Everett on May 20 — a former bank headquarters that now houses 171 staff with seismic upgrades, backup generators, and ballistic glass — and the facility is designed to support public safety for the next 20 to 30 years.  Everett Herald
  • Gov. Bob Ferguson signed a two-year operating budget on Tuesday that allocates $15 million for crisis care centers and lawmakers passed a bill on May 12 to expand Medicaid contract negotiations—steps that are set to simplify rules as multiple providers apply to operate the nearly two-year-old, vacant Lynnwood Crisis Care Center.  Everett Herald
  • Sound Transit approved a $228 million contract on Thursday to build Bus Base North, a 365,000-square-foot facility in Bothell that will house an operations center and space for up to 120 buses for the new Stride bus rapid transit system set to launch in 2028 — the contract includes a 20% contingency of $45 million.  Everett Herald
  • Construction on a replacement sewer line near Beverly Lake along 75th Street will begin in June 2025 during daytime hours, and work is set to last about three months—causing noise, traffic, and limited parking.
