COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Community Transit will start new Route 908 on Monday, June 15 to replace Route 424, doubling weekday trips with new stops in Bothell and Bellevue that connect to Link light rail; due to construction, estimated departure times will apply at Canyon Park Park & Ride starting Saturday, June 13.  My Everett News
  • Farmers markets in Snohomish County are open for the season. The Snohomish market runs Thursdays from May through October near downtown, Monroe opens on Wednesdays starting May 27, and Everett hosts its market on Sundays from May 10 to Oct. 25.  Snohomish County Tribune
  • The PIT count on Jan. 26 found 1,163 unhoused people — 505 unsheltered and 658 sheltered — marking a small rise over last year. Everett led with 179 residents’ last addresses and 222 unsheltered, officials said.  Snohomish County Tribune
  • Everett is set for an active summer with events ranging from live music at the Port of Everett to official fan zone watch parties for the upcoming World Cup at Boxcar Park. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Construction crews began work on 84th Street between Marysville + Granite Falls yesterday to add safety improvements such as new signs, rumble strips, and narrowed lanes that drop the speed limit from 50 to 40 mph; drivers should expect intermittent delays until work is completed in August.  Everett Herald
  • Everett Gospel Mission hosted an event on Tuesday, May 19, where 18 agencies mapped out the county’s homelessness support network and discussed housing services and eviction prevention—local officials stressed that coordinated efforts help clear up public misunderstandings.  Snohomish County Tribune

  • Everett Silvertips face host Kelowna Rockets in the Memorial Cup round-robin Wednesday at 6 p.m. PT at Prospera Place. The Silvertips, who beat the Rockets in the playoffs, will seek a rebound — a chance to prove themselves — and aim to secure a semifinal spot.  Everett Herald
