  • Meta Platforms announced it will lay off 1,395 Washington workers starting July 22 while Mark Zuckerberg’s $300 million superyacht sailed through Seattle’s Ballard Locks into Lake Union.  My Everett News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Flower World in Maltby has been in a permit dispute with county officials over new building additions on its nursery campus — a long-time farming site — as Postemas claim the changes support agriculture while county rules require permits, and the issue remains under appeal.  Everett Herald
  • Community Transit will retire route 424 on June 13 and replace it with route 908 linking Snohomish and Bellevue to offer more frequent service for commuters.  Everett Herald

  • The Everett Silvertips earned a 4-0 win over the Kelowna Rockets in a Memorial Cup round robin on Wednesday at Prospera Place (with goalie Anders Miller making 28 saves to lead the team). They will face Chicoutimi in the semifinal at 6 p.m. PT.  Everett Herald
