- ➤ Sorticulture is Everett’s largest celebration of gardens and art that will feature 120 artists and nurseries from both local and regional groups. The festival will take place downtown from June 6 to 8—Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Everett Post
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ State auditors removed the 'going concern' finding from Marysville School District’s 2023-24 audit after noting that the district has cut costs by closing two schools and reducing staff while still facing financial risks. The report found no major issues in financial reporting and set a goal to restore the district’s fund balance through its three-year plan—state oversight continues until the district meets these targets. - ➤ Starting at 11:00 p.m. Friday, the southbound lanes of Highway 529 in Everett will be closed for 24 hours a day through Tuesday for mechanical work on the 98-year-old Steamboat Slough Bridge—drivers should plan to use alternate routes near Marysville. The southbound I-5 off‑ramp will also be closed—travelers are advised to use the 88th Northeast or 116th Street Northeast interchanges. Everett Herald
- ➤ Snohomish County released a report today that found at least 10 of its 210 bridges will be replaced or rehabilitated, with three projects starting this year—replacing the Jordan Creek and Swamp Creek Bridges and doing maintenance on Red Bridge 537. The report also flagged additional bridges for seismic upgrades or replacement, with work planned in 2026, 2027 and 2028. Everett Herald
