  • Earlier this week, a wrecking ball demolished the historic Everett Yacht Club building on the waterfront, ending nearly 50 years of hosting local events — the club had moved nearly a decade ago and the building had later served as Port offices before being retired. The Port of Everett said it will redevelop the prime site for future use.  Everett Post

CRIME NEWS

  • Detectives from the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team concluded an investigation into the police use-of-force used during a Highway 9 pursuit after 19-year-old Payton Michaels fatally shot his mother on Sept. 15 in Arlington — the findings were forwarded to the Snohomish County Prosecutor’s Office for review.  Everett Herald
  • A jury in Everett found Raul Benitez Santana guilty of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault for striking a parked patrol vehicle while driving 112 mph under the influence near Marysville, which killed Trooper Chris Gadd on March 2nd — his sentencing is set for 1 p.m. on July 2nd.  My Everett News
  • Kent Police in Everett are asking anyone who sees Yelena Miskova—a material witness to a 2021 homicide with a $25,000 warrant in King County and additional warrants for DUI and driving while license suspended in Snohomish County—to call 911 immediately as she is known to frequent Casino Road and is 5’05”, 120 lb with a nose piercing and tattoos on her wrist and upper thigh.  My Everett News

  • Everett City Council will vote on June 18 on a final update to the city's land use rules meant to guide future growth, including plans for 65,000 new residents and more jobs. The plan reassigns 75 acres near Phil Johnson Ballfields to open space and faces debate over affordable housing rules for Casino Road — a key community concern.  Everett Herald

  • Providence Regional Medical Center Everett will cut 119 nursing assistant positions (39 per diem and 80 full- and part-time) effective July 11, with affected staff to be notified on June 11.  Everett Herald
