- ➤ Ongoing water tests in Edmonds School District show that nearly 150 of 692 outlets have lead levels above 5 parts per billion—27 of these outlets have been shut down for exceeding 15 parts per billion. Eleven schools have been tested so far as state law requires schools built before 2016 to complete testing by June 30. Everett Herald
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Washington AG Nick Brown filed a complaint in Snohomish County Superior Court on Friday against FPI Management and owners of three apartment complexes over allegations they engaged in unfair and deceptive practices with low-income seniors—complaint details include failure to disclose future rent increases and misrepresentations about property conditions. The complaint also names defendants from two other complexes in Western Washington, and it is under review by the court. Everett Herald
- ➤ Everett’s Snohomish County Board of Health is accepting applications to fill a vacant seat after Julie Smith resigned in February — the board seeks a candidate with personal public health experience and from an underrepresented community. Applicants must not be elected officials or have financial ties to health service providers and should apply by June 30. Everett Herald
- ➤ Snohomish County Fire Protection District 22 received a $44,193 grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation (supported by local Marysville Firehouse Subs) to purchase a battery-powered spreader, cutter, ram and accessories that will replace 25-year-old equipment and help rescue auto collision victims. The new tools will improve the department’s ability to respond to emergencies. My Everett News
