Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 15th of June.
Good morning, Everett.
🎓 Education
At Whittier Elementary in Everett, children cheered as high school graduates walked the halls during the annual Grad Walk tradition, reuniting with their former teachers and friends.
One senior, who spent months volunteering at the school, will study education at Western Washington University — a sign of the school's lasting influence — as the event celebrated cherished ties between past and present.
🌲 Environment
On June 11, Tulalip Tribes and the Department of Natural Resources installed 30 log jams along an 8-mile stretch of the Upper Pilchuck River near Granite Falls to create habitat for young salmon + Chinook helicopters moved 320 logs from state lands to the sites.
Tulalip paid for the project with a $600,000 NOAA grant + officials said the work is a key step in restoring the river.
