CRIME NEWS

  • Everett Police arrested four individuals—one adult and three juveniles—this spring for gang-related graffiti vandalism tied to incidents involving spray paint, alcohol and stolen firearms, with investigations still ongoing.  Everett Post
  • On June 17, a Mini Cooper led police on a high-speed chase starting on I-5 in South Everett and later crashed off the Edmonds ferry dock at 11:27 p.m.—two passengers died while three were taken to Harborview Medical Center as authorities investigated the role of drugs and alcohol.  My Everett News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Everett City Council approved a major update to its comprehensive plan that removes most single-family zoning and now requires larger housing developments in areas with a high risk of displacement to include affordable units—while also limiting small-scale corner commercial uses to certain districts. City staff will prepare reports on the inclusionary zoning and neighborhood business policies by June and January, respectively.  Everett Herald
  • On Wednesday, U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen visited Compass Health's new behavioral health center at 3322 Broadway in Everett to highlight the impact of proposed federal Medicaid cuts on patients who rely on the program + the nonprofit plans to open the 72,000-square-foot center in August to serve about 1,300 people.  Everett Herald
