  • CVS filed state business licenses to buy 64 Rite Aid and Bartell Drugs stores in the Pacific Northwest, including the Snohomish Rite Aid at 205 Pine Ave and a Bartell store in Lake Stevens, and will rebrand 20 Bartell Drugs stores to CVS—final closing steps are expected mid- to late summer—as local permits are under review.  Snohomish County Tribune

CRIME NEWS

  • Edmonds police said community members found a dead body in Olympic View Park on Thursday evening — detectives found no current threat to public safety — and the medical examiner will decide the cause of death as investigators work on the case.  Everett Herald

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Everett Community College notified parents and teachers on May 7 that its Early Learning Center, which staff began preparing to close in March, will shut on July 1—leaving less than two months for families to make new arrangements. College officials said the center faces financial difficulties with an expected $300,000 deficit—while a lawsuit alleging public meetings law violations is set for a hearing on June 25.  Everett Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Edmonds Municipal Court staff have accelerated the Blake Vacate Project to clear drug possession convictions from 1986 to 2020 before state funding cuts take effect on July 1 (when support for refunds and administrative costs will drop by over 80%). The project helps remove old records for many individuals and comes as legal aid funding also faces significant reductions.  Everett Herald
