- ➤ Everett residents will have a chance to grab a piece of Hollywood history in a pop-up giveaway scheduled for August after The Herald moves to its new office at 2500 Hewitt Ave — the first 500 respondents can receive up to five black-and-white celebrity photos along with a pica pole and a dictionary. The photos come from decades-old archives once used for news and feature layouts. Everett Herald

- ➤ Washington State Patrol arrested a 29-year-old driver on suspicion of murder, vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, and other charges after a high-speed pursuit on June 17 ended in the water near the Edmonds ferry terminal, killing two passengers and injuring three—documents indicate he may have stolen the vehicle days earlier from his ex-girlfriend. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Edmonds picked police officer William Morris as a non-voting liaison to the South County Fire Board of Commissioners on June 17 — soon after residents approved joining the regional fire authority effective June 1. Morris, who is president of the Edmonds Police Officers Association and works in the traffic unit, said he will ensure that Edmonds’ public safety needs are heard as the transition continues. - ➤ Federal lawyers filed a lawsuit against Washington over Senate Bill 5375, a law signed last month that forces Catholic priests to report sexual abuse even in confession—DOJ lawyers say it violates the First Amendment. KUOW

- ➤ Downtown Everett will host the annual Everett 3on3 Tournament — presented by Boeing — where teams and fans enjoy basketball contests, slam dunk challenges, and live music with food trucks.
