- ➤ Local volunteers and sponsors will host the Everett 4th of July Parade on July 4th from 11 AM to 12:30 PM along a route that starts on Colby Ave at 25th Street—looping through Wetmore Ave, with free shuttle options for downtown parking. Later, the Fourth of July Festival at Legion Memorial Park will run from 3 PM to 12:30 PM and feature live music, food trucks, and an 18-minute fireworks show launching over Port Gardner Bay at 10 PM. - ➤ Float Find returns to the Everett Waterfront this July as a free eight‐week treasure quest featuring 200 locally made glass floats hidden at Waterfront Place and Jetty Island—participants can also win extra floats at the Fresh Paint Arts Festival on August 16—17; the event runs from Friday, July 11 through Friday, August 29. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Sound Transit will review its financial plan for ST3 but will not cut light rail projects as project costs rise and ridership stays low. Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers said officials will adjust project scope and timelines while keeping the voter-approved plan intact (including plans for new access improvements over Interstate 5 for the Everett line). - ➤ Snohomish County Human Services conducted the annual Point-in-Time count on January 22 and recorded 1,140 homeless individuals—a 1.8% drop from 2024—with 324 unsheltered people spending the night in Everett as open Cold Weather Shelters increased the sheltered count. Everett Post
- ➤ Utah Senator Mike Lee revised his proposal to sell 3.3 million acres of federal land after a Senate ruling found it violated Senate rules, and he now plans to remove Forest Service land and cut BLM land significantly. Washington Senator Maria Cantwell and local outdoor groups opposed the changes and urged action to protect public lands—especially areas in Snohomish County from being sold. Everett Herald
