- ➤ Travel writer Rick Steves challenged Everett neighbors to match his extra $1 million gift for the Lynnwood Neighborhood Center project, where he is the lead donor of a $26.5 million effort that has been planned for over 15 years. The 39,000-square-foot center will open this fall on 196th Street near Trinity Lutheran Church+ it will host community spaces for several local nonprofits. Everett Herald

- ➤ On July 6, a fire destroyed the Center for Human Services building on 204th St. in Lynnwood—firefighters took over two hours to control the blaze, no injuries were reported, and the cause remains under investigation. Everett Herald

- ➤ Everett-based Fluke Corporation announced yesterday that it appointed Parker Burke as President and Group President of Fortive’s Connected Reliability Group, with his appointment taking effect on July 7. - ➤ Everett police booked a suspect for controlled substance homicide after a fatal overdose on May 4th at an apartment on W Marine View Drive — video footage showed him selling drugs that led to the victim's death, with the arrest occurring on June 23rd. My Everett News

- ➤ Snohomish County Council denied an appeal on July 2 that challenged the hearing examiner’s approval for Eastview Village—a 145-acre development planned off Cathcart Way near Silver Firs—and affirmed the examiner’s decision despite concerns over environmental review and traffic risks. Appellants led by resident Debbie Wetzel said they will file a Land Use Petition Act appeal in Superior Court and aim to raise $100,000 for their case. Everett Herald
