- ➤ Everett news reported that a judge sentenced a 73-year-old man for sending explicit images to a decoy agent and investigators found child abuse images on his phone, while a teen rescued an 11-year-old from Silver Lake who remains in stable but critical condition. Other stories showed police investigating two fatal shootings with an 18-year-old suspect booked on murder, drive-by shooting and assault charges, city officials extending a riverfront grocery store deadline and updating housing plans, a Tulalip casino unveiling a 70,000-square-foot expansion, and residents celebrating the Fourth of July parade and Everett Pride—plus the school superintendent earning a state award and discussions underway on fines for non-emergency lift assists at care facilities. - ➤ Everett City Council voted unanimously Wednesday to allow the fire department to fine licensed care facilities for non-emergency lift assists when no medical emergency is found — individuals calling 911 for personal falls will not face a fine. The fire department will visit about 15 care facilities to explain the new law and will begin enforcement in 2026. Everett Herald
