CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Late Friday night, July 18th, a suspect stole a 2018 Pierce Enforcer Pumper from the 2900 block of Hoyt Avenue while firefighters attended a medical call and then drove it at high speed through north Everett, colliding with parked vehicles and damaging landscaping at five locations—no one was injured and the engine is now impounded while police search for the suspect. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Everett Public Works will start replacing an aging sewer line near Beverly Lake along 75th Street this month—this project will last about six months and may cause daytime noise and traffic disruptions for residents of Shoreside Village, Lakeside Apartments and Beverly Lake Village. Scheduled to finish by fourth quarter, the work will include temporary single-lane closures and limited parking. My Everett News
- ➤ Today, WSDOT crews begin a 14-week project on southbound I-5 from 41st to Boeing Freeway, closing up to four lanes and using detours plus replacing aging bridge joints and pavement markings. In Seattle, northbound I-5 from I-90 to 45th Street remains closed through Monday for Ship Canal Bridge repaving while express lanes help manage northbound flow and ease delays for southbound commuters until mid-August. - ➤ A team of UW engineering students built a solution with smart scales, route optimization, and a real-time dashboard to help Snohomish County collect ballots after they mailed out yesterday. County officials say the system — made for future elections — will be pilot tested soon to improve ballot collection. My Everett News
