- ➤ Today, Christian Sayre, 39, was sentenced by Snohomish County Superior Court to 109 years in prison for rape and indecent liberties charges after a long investigation linked his DNA to a 2020 sexual assault case and uncovered a notebook with over 30 potential victims — his crimes spanned more than two decades. - ➤ Everett City Council District 1 will hold a primary on Aug. 5 for an open seat after Mary Fosse decided not to run for reelection—five candidates, including Sam Hem, Mason Rutledge, Erica Weir, Bill Wheeler, and Steven Sullivan, are competing with the top two advancing to the November election. Voter registration updates are accepted until July 28 as candidates focus on public safety, affordable housing, and homelessness. Snohomish County Tribune
- ➤ Everett City Council will hold primary elections on August 5 for the open District 4 seat as Liz Vogeli plans to leave, with candidates Alan Rubio, Niko Battle, and Luis Burbano presenting distinct ideas on public safety, housing, and community investments—voters must update registration by July 28 to be eligible to vote. - ➤ Snohomish County secured a $2 million federal grant (from a federal spending package) for the design of a $35 million upgrade at the Delta rail yard in north Everett to improve waste management and passenger rail service.
