ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 19-year-old motorcyclist died when his bike hit a fence and a utility box near Bothell around 12:30 a.m. Thursday when speed caused him to lose control—police said there were no other vehicles involved.  Everett Herald
  • Marysville firefighters responded to an alarm at Quil Ceda Creek Casino in Tulalip on Thursday at 1:35 p.m.—they found a server room fire that triggered the sprinklers and led to a safe evacuation—and no one was hurt.  Everett Herald

CRIME NEWS

  • On July 18th, Everett Fire Engine #1 was stolen during a medical emergency when a suspect bypassed the engine’s keyless system and drove on Hoyt Ave, Alverson Blvd and Marine View Dr—damaging 11 vehicles before abandoning it, and the department later replaced the engine while planning permanent security measures.  Everett Post

CULTURE NEWS

  • Cirque Musica Holiday Wonderland will come to Everett at Angel of the Winds Arena on December 7th at 6 p.m.—the only Washington stop on its tour of over 80 cities in the U.S. and Canada. Tickets will be available starting today from $49 to $262.90 with VIP experiences offered in select markets.  My Everett News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Three candidates are running in the District 4 school board primary on Aug. 5 as longtime member Sandy Hayes, who has served since 2009, faces challenges from UW graduate Sehaj Dhaliwal and Northshore grandparent JoAnn Tolentino. The contest will decide the top two for the November election — a race aimed at addressing local education funding and future learning needs.  Everett Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City engineers reported that demolition of the old Edgewater Bridge is complete and crews began building a temporary bridge—this work will lead to a new structure set to open in early March 2026. The project replaces the 1946 bridge that carried 6,000 vehicles daily and uses federal grants along with local funds.  Everett Herald
  • The Snohomish County Council passed unanimous regulations for the Food and Farming Center in McCollum Park near Mill Creek with fundraising planned through 2026 and phase one construction set to begin in 2027. Council members also revised language to allow food trucks—ensuring the center meets local farmers’ needs.  Everett Herald
