CRIME NEWS

  • South County Fire's Ford F-150 was stolen during a residential fire investigation around 11:45 a.m.—police later recovered the vehicle in Shoreline with minor damage and no reported injuries.  My Everett News
  • On July 18, an individual stole a 35,000-pound fire truck from the Everett Fire Department during an emergency response—damaging 14 parked vehicles and prompting Fire Chief Dave DeMarco to say police were searching for a male suspect while temporary security measures were put in place.  Everett Herald

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Snohomish County Public Utility District improved its fire safety plan to cut wildfire risks by trimming trees each year and changing electrical settings; crews switched settings last week during a red flag warning — they plan to use an automated switch soon to meet state wildfire rules and warn customers about possible longer power outages.  Everett Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Crews are repaving a four-mile stretch of southbound I-5 in Everett, which will cause up to four lanes to close each week until fall and force drivers to face delays during nightly work from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday—Friday.  Everett Post
